A Self Explanatory Sonnet
Every
sonnet must be fourteen lines long,
ten syllables is the length of each line.
A sonnet is known as a ‘mini-song’,
A B A B is the pattern of rhyme.
Sonnets are usually about such pains,
that are serious, like death or like war.
A sonnet’s lines are arranged in quatrains,
every quatrain is comprised of lines, four.
Many sonnets open with a question,
and then seek the answer within its verse.
Others contain a subtle suggestion,
of love and high romance from his to hers.
Sonnets finish with a rhyming couplet,
that concludes the poem and argument.
